Bailes Ferrer Closes its Curtain after 18 Years with a Salute to Spanish Dance
Davie, FL – March 19, 2012 – In the same uncompromising artistic rigor that has cast Bailes Ferrer as one of the premier Flamenco companies in Broward County and as one of its cultural gems, on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 5:00 PM, and in its only performance, the company will present its farewell concert, ¡Olé Flamenco!
The concert will take place at the Rose & Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center, 3100 Ray Ferrero, Jr. Boulevard, Davie, FL 33314 (On the Nova Southeastern University Campus).
“It was a hard decision to come to after being an integral part of the South Florida arts and culture scene for 18 years. We are yet another casualty of this difficult economy. That being said, I want our public to know that although this is farewell, this final performance of Bailes Ferrer Flamenco will have them on their feet delivering their deeply appreciated bravos because this will be a celebration. We will be joined by many of our past musicians and dancers for one last juerga,” stated Ms. Damaris Ferrer, Founder and Artistic Director of the company.
Featured guests include, Guitarists José Luís Rodríguez and Alex Jordan; Singer, Yanela; Dancers, Damaris Ferrer, Paola Escobar, and Niurca Marquez, among others.
The two-hour performance will feature performances by students from the Flamenco dance department of the University Center for the Performing Arts, and the professional Flamenco Artists of South Florida that have graced our stages for the past 18 years.
